Spawn pages pencilled by Philip Tan inked and inkwashed by Edgar Tadeo.
And now they’re being sold! Time to own your favourite Philip Tan’s Spawn and Spawn: Godslayer pages, buy the best ones you wish to have. Although, the original pencils weren’t inked over, these pages being sold were printed and inked over on 11″ x 17″ artboards. Some were inkwashed on high-res printouts.
I still have some pages that I’m gonna sell soon at the ToyCon this June. If you’d like to see the pages you can contact me.

I sometimes lost count on how long I’ve been in the comic biz. So I just remember the age of my youngest brother Erick–he’s 12 now. Before I got hooked up in comics, I was an aspiring artist; I wanted to be a painter. I was practicing drawing in charcoal, pastels, watercolours and even oil paints. I had a mentor who’s a painter–Rodie Julian of Group Artists of Taytay, also known as G. A. T.
When I broke in the comic biz, I became an inker over Leinil Yu. It was great working with him, but later on I got burned out from work. So I quit for a while until Avalon Studios was formed. I was asked by Whilce Portacio and Brian Haberlin if I can do colouring for them. I got excited coz I just upgraded my computer.

Your Art Is Your Name

I’ve encountered many aspiring artists and they’re all good. There were some I can recognize their work from some popular artists like Jim Lee, Marc Silvestri, or Michael Turner. And some others are from the manga or anime style. I cannot say what manga style or who’s manga artist these artists are immitating, but they’re really good. For some reasons my index fingers are now pointing at me.
Yes, I cloned styles too coz I was interested. I did manga style for more than three years, studying them. I did a Jim Lee style, Rob Liefeld style, Jeff Campbell style and so on. But people recognize me from someone else’s work, not by my name.
Way back before I broke in the biz, Alamat Comics was formed and I joined in their meetings with my friend Fritz Casas. Both me and Fritz were Jim Lee cloners and we were both proud we can draw almost like Jim’s. Now I just realized looking back, people said to us “wow! Jim Lee style. What’s your name?” At first it was overwhelming that some people recognized our work but forget our names.

I was going to draw a couple of commission samples and a pencilling submissions this week, but fortunately I received a promo project to ink. Can’t say what it is, but I’m sure you’ll all love it when it is already ripe and juicy sweet.
Now, I still have a hang-over from the FCBD, an awesome event for comics lovers, creators, and new readers. And there will be another even, which will be held locally. I’m sure everybody’s familiar with Toy Con! I was invited by Azrael to come as one of the guests; Gerry Alanguilan will be there too. There were few people asked me if I’ll be selling YSB#2 but unfortunately, I cannot tell right now. But I might do another art commission just like we did for FCBD in Comic Odyssey, which I’ll be by their tables at the Toy Con if they’ll allow me to. Hehe.
